Sleeping has been proven to affect the social, mental and emotional aspects of a person.

Working the whole day, spending quality time with the family or traveling for a long period of time would be a tiring epoch for some. After doing such, our body would ask for a moment of rest or sleep.


Sleeping makes the body regenerate the energy and radiate it through the accomplished actions within a day of activities. The Department of Health and Human Services of the United States (2011) defined sleeping as the common block of time when the brain and body shut down or at rest. Recent researches suggest that adults need 7–8 hours of sleep each night to be well-rested. However, average people like teenagers nowadays spend 7 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep would result to negative vibes and might pose health risks. This article will dig into the benefits of regular sleeping as a power tool in healthy living.


The journal, published by Leech, J. (2018), suggests that regular sleeping is as important as spending time in having proper meals or eating and incredibly valued as having daily exercise. When sleeping time is decreased, sleeping quality has decreased as well. Thus, it is a must for every person to spare enough time sleeping so that the body would adjust to its proper composure.


Health issues are in the arena of discussion in the world due to the improper action that would result in somewhat indifferent. Here are the reasons why regular sleeping is important:


First, having enough regular sleep enhances memory skills of learners who wish to attain better records in education. The study shows, as released by The Department of Health and Human Services of the United States (2011), people can learn a task better if they are well rested. They have the chance to better remember what they learned if they get a good sleep after learning the task than if they are sleep deprived. If the mind is in state of calmness, it makes the nerves active and sends better impulses to remember things. This means that sleeping is a path to better brain functions. If a person would have sleep deprivation the aspects of brain capacity such as concentration, productivity and performance are affected.


Second, regular sleep is a means to balance diet. In a journal published in 2011, it has been stated that short sleeping time or duration paves the high risk of obesity. Study shows that people who are spending least of their time in sleeping would tend to have more intake of calories or they may have the chances to engage in food eating habits. Hence, good sleepers may have big criteria for less consumption of calories.


Third, sleeping gives benefits to the body by giving resounding energy to the human heart to act on its cardiovascular functions. Sleeping at night allows the blood pressure to have a nightly dip that is good in cardiovascular health. It has been revealed that lack of sleeping may lead to some illnesses, heart disease or may lead to a high risk of experiencing a stroke.


Sleeping has been proven to affect the social, mental and emotional aspects of a person. The time devoted to sleeping is important in extending the inch of a human’s healthy lifestyle.
